The Alliance for Nonprofit Management is a national membership organization of service providers, consultants, and nonprofit organizations interested in strategy and operations issues in the not-for-profit sector.
Business Initiatives
Alliance knew that their website had the potential to be their most important vehicle for growing their membership and network on a national scale. They set a goal for the public-facing portions of a new web portal--to be recognized as a premium source of information for and about the nonprofit community. Alliance knew that any solution without depth, as well as breadth, in development, would be fractured and inconsistent.
The Solution
Alliance selected Axiom technology to create one comprehensive portal serving three key groups. Axiom integrated over 20 different interactive modules for the new website.
Workflows integrated with e-mail notification enable visitors to suggest questions and answers in the FAQ, suggest events for the calendar, and submit job applications to Alliance members and paying visitors who post listings in the nonprofit career bank. The centerpieces of member collaboration are the discussion forums and affinity groups. Alliance members use forums, gated in both directions to e-mail, to discuss topics of general interest. For small workgroups or groups with special interest, Alliance staff use Axiom to create affinity groups—instant collaborative areas with their own subscription list and member-accessible file sharing area, discussion board, and event calendar.
Archives of publications and reports relevant to nonprofit management live in a library of documents. Axiom automated membership purchase and renewal, created a store for books and reports produced by Alliance, allowed anyone to donate online, and gave Alliance the ability to create instant registration forms with advanced pricing models for conferences and events they host.
The Axiom solution empowered Alliance with intuitive content management and Web applications that engage visitors interactively while allowing staff to easily maintain a website that could change as fast as breaking news in the nonprofit industry. The resulting website is a highly interactive nexus for members and has Web-enabled virtually every aspect of their business and member relations.
